Eastman College Student on Lincoln Assassination

Eastman College reported that it would not admit persons of color as students because it would be disruptive to its students from the south.

The Eastman College student who wrote these passages is not (yet) known, but is clearly sympathetic to the north.

His writings from the days preceding the assassination through the visit of the Lincoln funeral train to Poughkeepsie, capture the powerful mixed emotions of the simultaneous ending of the Civil War and the death of President Lincoln.
