Recovering Women’s Stories from Ancient Documents

Join Dutchess County Historian Will Tatum at 7 PM on March 10th for an investigation of women's stories preserved in the Dutchess County Courts of Common Pleas and General Sessions records, better known as the Ancient Documents Collection. From powerful widows to jilted lovers, victims of violence to champions of domestic responsibility, you are sure to encounter an episode that still resonates today. These cases are drawn from the eighteenth century, with the documents being freely accessible via the Ancient Documents Search Portal, courtesy of the Dutchess County Clerk's Office.

We invite you to provide your contact information below so that we can send you a Zoom link for event attendance, which is by Zoom only. Thank you!
