In a landmark article in the 1987 DCHS Yearbook, the late Lorraine M. Roberts and Professor Lawrence H. Mamiya wrote about local Black history with the heading Invisible People, Untold Stories.
No doubt they would argue that although progress has been made, much work remains to be done to tell these stories. The article is published here given its relevance and power today. It offers a positive guide to the future, making us think about what we choose to remember, and what we choose to forget.
