Office of the Dutchess County Historian
Researchers should be aware that most archival material preserved at the county level relates to the operations of county government from the eighteenth century onwards. Our holdings are rich in court records, tax rolls, deeds, and similar documents. We do not house material generated by municipal governments, which are held in those localities, nor do we possess many sources relating to genealogy.
The Genealogy room and the Local History room are located on the the first floor of the Adriance Memorial Library at 93 Market Street in Poughkeepsie. The Genealogy Room is open to the public during all hours of library operations. Access to the Local History Room is by appointment only.
