Hidden Calf in the Pinewoods [1895]

Painting

View of a wooded landscape with a young cow standing at its edge. In the foreground of the composition are small grasses, and larger fan-like plants on the left. There is a large tree trunk on the right side, with flowers at its base, and a climbing vine with flowers (potentially jasmine like Cardinal Bird and Yellow Jasmine). Slightly to the left of center is a young brown and white spotted calf, who stands in profile facing the right, with its head turned directly toward the viewer. On the left behind the cow is another large tree trunk, as well as more vegetation. On the right toward the background is the indication of another reddish colored cow. The rest of the background is made up of more of these tall trees.
