Rhinebeck Section E

Early segregation in Rhinebeck is reflected on Oak Street, a one thousand foot side street near the village center where small lots were initially sold (1830s to 1850) to Blacks. Similarly, in death, Section E of the Rhinebeck cemetery was created in 1853 for “persons of color.”
