September of 2024 marks the 200th anniversary of the local visit of Lafayette to Dutchess and Columbia Counties that was part of a late-in-life, 13-month, 24-state farewell tour the scale of which had never before been seen. He was the last surviving general of the American Revolution, having earned the rank at the age of 19.
